Soldiers seek public’s help in fatal hit-and-run accident

Through investigative means, the soldiers identified a possible suspect vehicle in the fatal hit-and-run accident. The vehicle is described as a 2007-2013 GMC Sierra, Light Silver in color with a black ranch style front bumper and black rims. The truck was seen towing a 10-12 foot single axle utility trailer (see attached photos of the actual truck from surveillance video). The vehicle was last seen heading north on LA-19 toward Ethel, then heading east on LA-412. INITIAL RELEASE: May 7, 2022

Massacre – On Friday, May 6, 2022, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troopers A Troop responded to a fatal hit-and-run on LA 19 (Zachary-Slaughter Hwy.) in East Feliciana Parish. The crash claimed the life of Michael John Moredock, 46, of Shreveport.

Preliminary investigation found the accident happened while Moredock was riding a Kent-branded bicycle northbound on LA 19 near the East Feliciana Parish line. The area was dark and had no streetlights. As Moredock was traveling on the right side of the northbound lane, he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle. The impact threw Moredock off the bike and he landed in a grassy area just east of the northbound lane.

Moredock was not wearing a helmet and suffered fatal injuries in the accident. He was declared deceased at the scene. After the crash, the vehicle that hit Moredock fled. As of this release, troopers do not have a description of the suspect hit-and-run vehicle. Troopers are asking the public to contact Louisiana State Police A Troop at (225-754-8500) if they have any information regarding this crash.
