We never fully understand fashion. The luxury brand Balenciaga is being trolled on the internet for its new ‘Paris Sneaker’ collection. The distressed shoe line includes 100 pairs of fully destroyed, limited-edition sneakers.
The new line includes both high-top sneakers and mules and is available for pre-order online worldwide. The collection, however, had the internet talking for all the wrong reasons. The distressed sneakers cost between Rs 1.4 lacs ($1,850) and Rs 48,279 ($625) and most netizens said the fully destroyed luxury sneakers look like they were “excavated from an ancient site or ‘a discharge”.

The sneakers are “a revamped classic design that interprets mid-century athleticism and timeless casual in black, white or red, with a white rubber sole and toe. It’s finished with a distressed canvas and rough edges , affecting a pre-worn look.” The collection comes in lace up, high top or backless style, and meant to be ‘worn for a lifetime’.
Looking at the sneakers, it’s not clear if they can really last a lifetime, but what’s more ironic is the price tag attached to them. Internet users are obviously confused by the new collection.
The distressed sneakers with the Balencia logo on them will be available worldwide through their website. It is already available in European markets. Stores in the United States and the Middle East will have the collection on May 16 and Japan on May 23.
