Emergency services reportedly attempted to revive the driver and sole occupant, but he succumbed to his injuries after the car left the road and rolled away. Symonds was popularly known as one of the greatest all-round players of all time, who played 26 Tests, 198 One-Day Internationals and 14 Twenty20 Internationals between 1998 and 2009. He is among the few players selected on the internationals of a day to score above 5000 runs (5088) and take over 100 wickets (133). With Australia, Symonds had two successive invincible runs in the ODI World Cups – 2003 and 2007. In the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, the Australian cricketer became the second most expensive of the auction, with 1.35 million dollars.
